My Windows 7 won't start up /Black Screen/  I've tried all the solutions online except for system renew.
Things to know 1. I never turn off my computer. I rarely turn it off. 2. Since it's a laptop the power went out probably 20x during the 3 months. 3. I skipped safe mode 5x when the OS recommend I should. 4. I bought my laptop 3 months ago. 5. Dropped it during month and a half, preety sure hard drive wasn't damaged. Preety sure it's a software problem. The situation 1. I turn my computer off for the first time two weeks ago. 2. Wake up the next morning and find the OS to give me the safe mode option. 3. I choose yes, next thing you know windows won't load. 4. I restart, and it goes to system repair. 5. I leave it on for probably all night. 6. I unplug power goes on for three more hours. I forget and it shuts down. 7. I try the system repair. Nothing. 8. Ive tried analyzing hard drive, i think it passed... I looked at it till 95% and said no problems to be found. I wouldn't know the conclusion because it goes into windows load mode and same @%%$ again. 9. The user login shows up. Im ecstatic thinking it was fixed. 10. I log into admin. Black Screen. 11. I login to not admin. I get the desktop. Happy as *%^@ only to find out none of the buttons work, but all my programs work. Solutions tried 1. System restore is not possible because I never did it. 2. System repair doesn't do anything. 3. And that solution from PREVX i tried. here's how it went... 1. I log in admin and open task manager. It says there is wireless connection. I try opening the webpage. 2. The webpage tries to load. 3. Then either task manager fails or the internet page stops working before it even starts working. Continuous auto tries, fail, loads up a new notice telling me it stopped working. What I can do so far: 1. Btw i checked my hard drive for consistency 2. it was deleting corrupt attribute record (128, "") from file record segment 69393. 69398 139127 0 bad records provessed 0 EA records provessed. 93 reparse records processed deleting index entry cm-0-p. dat in index $130 of file 123 047 does dat^ twice and other stuff but it loads up too fast AND back to what i can do so far 1. access F2, F8, F12 2. I can load anything there 3. I can get username to load up. 4. But if i go on SAFE Mode with Networking - not internet, not like there actually is internet normally. PLEASE HELP ME!! I am taking it to the shop tommorow. And i do not want to do the whole hard drive copy, redo the OS, then copy back Hard drive. Going to shop 2nd last resort, ^^^that would be my first. BTW: As you know every step is dead slow, I read somewhere that it's because your applications and devices stop working, I checked in task manager, tis true 4 apps running which is the task manager itself

First - BACK YOUR INFORMATION UP NOW. It sounds like a corrupt registry hive / bad sectors on your hard drive. (You have alot of improper shutdowns, and guessing you probably don't patch the OS very often?) If you can get to the desktop: 1. Start, in Search... field, enter "cmd". Right click it and start as Administrator. 2. Enter command "chkdsk /r" The computer will say that a checkdisk has been scheduled for next boot. Reboot the PC and let it do it's thing. (Can take a while, depending on hard drive size and amount of corruption.) Second, is more drastic. For a bad registry hive, you will need a second PC that you can 'slave' this laptop's disk to, and we can look at repairing the registry with REGEDIT. Try the above first and post the results.

Try booting into safe mode and selecting System Restore. Perform a System Restore to a point prior to experiencing the problem. If that doesn't work, try the fix listed here: http://www.prevx.com/blog/140/Black-Screen-woes-could-affect-millions-on-Windows--Vista-and-XP.html Jerry

Hi, If the issue persists, try the following suggestions to perform an In-Place Upgrade: Regarding In-place Upgrade, it is a tool to repair the system. Through the special upgrade process, we will be able to repair the system. The In-place Upgrade will not affect settings like photos, movies, documents, etc. that are saved on the computer. However, it is recommended to first backup your important information and files to other partitions or other disks. We can have a try to see if the issue works. Turn off Windows features before performing an In-place Upgrade ========================================= 1. Click Start, and click Control Panel. 2. Click Classic View on the left pane, and double click Program and Features. 3. Click "Turn Windows features on or off on the left" pane. 4. In the Windows Features dialog box, uncheck all of the check boxes, and then click OK. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Now, let's perform the following steps to repair the corrupted files: In-place Upgrade =========== Though this operation will not remove or modify the installed programs and files, I still suggest that we backup the important files before doing this. In addition, we may have to reinstall the device drivers after this operation. Thank you for your understanding. If the Windows 7 DVD is not available, please just run setup.exe file in the Windows 7 installation package to perform the following steps. 1. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in the computer's DVD drive. 2. Click Start and choose Computer. 3. Please find the "setup.exe" file in the DVD-ROM and double click it. 4. Click Install now. 5. When we are prompted to input the product key, please click Next without inputting any key. The setup wizard will prompt and ask if you agree to install Windows 7 without the key. Please choose to confirm. 6. When you reach the "Which type of installation do you want" screen, click Upgrade to upgrade the system files of Windows 7. Note: While performing the In-place Upgrade, the system will restart automatically (several times) to merge the files and programs. Please leave the computer alone and do not configure it until In-place Upgrade is completed. The system will start Windows 7 once it is upgraded. When the In-place Upgrade finishes please check the original issue again. Good luck.
